Event overview
We all know that early literacy and numeracy are key to lifelong learning and success, but the path to improving student learning experiences and outcomes is challenging. However, instructional leaders at the school and district level are uniquely positioned to drive improvements.
Together with Instruction Partners, and with the support of an early literacy and numeracy initiative grant from the T.L.L. Temple Foundation, several districts in East Texas are paving a path to success.
We invite early literacy and numeracy instructional leadership teams from across East Texas to join us for a learning event and conversation featuring leaders from Silsbee ISD, Woodville ISD, and Broaddus ISD. We will highlight the work they are doing and the successes throughout this process.
Participants will:
- Reflect on current structural conditions in schools and systems related to HQIM-based professional learning.
- Participate in role-alike discussions of students’ instructional experiences in early literacy and numeracy and districts’ continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other educators to deepen role clarity and support instructional practices that improve early literacy and numeracy.
By learning from and with one another, we will refine leadership strategies that enhance student outcomes.

Who should attend?
This event is designed for early literacy and numeracy leadership teams. We ask that each district team include the superintendent, an elementary principal, and an instructional coach. Our sessions will include panelists and lessons learned from each of those roles, and we will spend time working in district teams to create a district-wide vision for instructional leadership and clarify how each role can help bring that vision to life.
To foster conversation and engagement, we are limiting attendance, so please make sure you reserve seats for you and your team by January 24.
